Traditionally a Women’s role in life was to be a good mother and wife, letting the man take control. Thankfully today, women are taking control and taking action, living their lives the way they want to live them. So how do women exude their strength? Is it necessary for a woman to un-sex herself in order to show she is as strong as a man? Does she need to mimic the behavior of a man? No, she doesn’t. Being a strong woman is about embracing your femininity, and being yourself.

Style of dress can reflect this shift in power; Mexican artist Frida Kahlo used her state of dress as a form of masquerade, and a way to express her opinions, and feelings. Similarly Tamara de Lempicka depicted strong empowering women in her paintings, conveying their inner strength and undeniable sexual energy.
